Imagine yourself on your way home from a stressful day at work. You don't feel like eating out, and you don't have the energy to make a meal at home. You browse around in the supermarket and end up in front of the take away counter. The first thing that catches your eye is an exclusive and inviting box of Sushi. Perfect, you think; it's restaurant food and take away combined into one. I'll take it!
We are Sofia and Maria, two second year university students that are really looking forward to this packaging exchange project. The picture above displays an early prototype of our Sushi box. Our idea is to make a package that looks like an expensive chocolate box with a pull-out tray. It will also include smart solutions for the chopsticks and the wasabi and soy.
We think that Sushi is an art itself and we want to show the beautiful pieces through a little window on top of the box. We don't want to show all of the Sushi - it should be a happy surprise for the consumer when opening the box. This week has been an introduction to packaging and Sushi. It has been a lot of work, but it has also been very fun and interesting. We hope you will enjoy this journey of a design coming to life - from idea to physical package.
